The most famous landmark in Oklahoma City's Asian District is the Milk Bottle Grocery, which has been around since about 1930. The structure has housed various businesses, including a banh mi shop.

Known colloquially as "Little Saigon," the Asian District is home to Oklahoma City's largest Asian population, primarily those of Vietnamese descent. A lively area with more than 30 restaurants, the neighborhood began to form in the 1970s as Vietnamese refugees fled after the Vietnam War. By 2010 Oklahoma's Vietnamese population had reached more than 16,000, according to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. In Oklahoma City, "about one in 60 locals are Vietnamese American."
